Safety Manager

Morgan Corp, a site preparation, underground utility, and heavy civil contractor seeks an Equipment Division Safety Manager for projects in the southeastern United States. The position will be based out of Spartanburg, SC and will travel to projects approximately 60% of the time.


Primary job responsibility:

To be the Equipment Division Safety leader who synchronizes the division's safety efforts with Morgan Corp's operations safety efforts, helping to ensure the health and safety of our employees, and protection of the environment.

Primary duties include:

  • Serve as the SME regarding environmental, health and safety efforts for the Equipment Division.
  • Develop safety orientation specific to the division for MC and contractor drivers, mechanics and technicians.
  • Train equipment staff on best practices to mitigate task hazards.
  • Evaluate safety performance of division employees and coach improved safety performance.
  • Travel to project sites to train, audit, and assist in environmental and safety efforts.
  • Advise and assist in administration of CDL program.
  • Serve as division SME on chemical awareness, tracking and disposal.
  • Investigate accidents to determine root cause and develop effective corrective actions.
  • Guide and mentor division staff to continuously improve safety performance and knowledge.
  • Act as liaison between equipment division and operations for environmental and safety matters.
  • Direct and confirm compliance with safety requirements for subcontractor mechanics and technicians.
  • Consult, inform, and advise Corporate Safety and Management regarding Equipment Division safety developments and occurrences.



  • Bachelor's Degree preferred (Considerable work experience may replace requirement.)
  • 10+ year's heavy equipment experience with 5+ year's safety experience.
  • Knowledgeable about equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Observant auditor with expertise and credibility to enact real-time improvements.       
  • Insightful trainer who can help students to learn successfully.         
  • Write effective Job Safety Analyses and train staff to do the same.         
  • Conduct Incident/Accident Investigations, determine root causes         
  • Report clearly and concisely on audits, training results, and field performance.         
  • OSHA 510 or 511.         
  • CSP, CHST, CET, or other EHS certifications appreciated.         
  • Ability to write in a clear and concise manner.         
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully.         
  • Respond professionally to client requests and input.         
  • Use technology efficiently.
